Psalms 105

Psalm 105 ESV

An exhortation to praise God, to seek him, and remember his works. 8His providence over Abraham, 16over Joseph, 23over Israel in Egypt, 26which he plagued for their sake; 37and over his people brought out of Egypt, fed in the wilderness, and planted in Canaan.
1Oh give thanks to the Lord; 2call upon his name; 3make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him; 1tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and his 1strength; 2seek his presence continually!
Remember the 1wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and 2the judgments he uttered,
O offspring of 1Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his 2chosen ones!
He is the Lord our God; his 1judgments are in all the earth.
He 1remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for 2a thousand generations,
1the covenant that he made with Abraham, his 2sworn promise to Isaac,
which he confirmed to 1Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
saying, 1“To you I will give the land of Canaan as 2your portion for an inheritance.”
When they were 1few in number, of little account, and 2sojourners in it,
wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
he 1allowed no one to oppress them; he 2rebuked kings on their account,
saying, 1“Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”
When he 1summoned a famine on the land and 2broke all supplya of bread,
he had 1sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was 2sold as a slave.
His 1feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron;
until 1what he had said came to pass, the word of the Lord 2tested him.
1The king sent and 2released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free;
he 1made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions,
to binda his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom.
Then 1Israel came to Egypt; Jacob 2sojourned in 3the land of Ham.
And the Lord 1made his people very fruitful and made them stronger than their foes.
He 1turned their hearts to hate his people, to 2deal craftily with his servants.
He 1sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, 2whom he had chosen.
1They performed his signs among them and miracles in 2the land of Ham.
He 1sent darkness, and made the land dark; they 2did not rebela against his words.
He turned their waters into blood and 1caused their fish to die.
Their land swarmed with frogs, even in 1the chambers of their kings.
He spoke, and there came 1swarms of flies, 2and gnats throughout their country.
He gave them hail for rain, and fiery 1lightning bolts through their land.
He struck down their vines and fig trees, and 1shattered the trees of their country.
He spoke, and the 1locusts came, young locusts without number,
which devoured all the vegetation in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground.
He 1struck down all the firstborn in their land, 2the firstfruits of all their strength.
Then he brought out Israel with 1silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
1Egypt was glad when they departed, for 2dread of them had fallen upon it.
He 1spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night.
1They asked, and he 2brought quail, and gave them 3bread from heaven in abundance.
He opened the rock, and 1water gushed out; it flowed through 2the desert like a river.
For he 1remembered his holy promise, and 2Abraham, his servant.
So he brought his people out with joy, his 1chosen ones with 2singing.
And he 1gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples' toil,
that they might 1keep his statutes and 2observe his laws. 3Praise the Lord!
