Psalms 16

Psalm 16 ESV

David fleeth to God for preservation, disclaiming all merit, and professing hatred of idolatry: 5he rejoiceth in having God for his portion: 8he confideth in God's present protection, and in a future resurrection, and life everlasting.
A 1Miktama of David.
Preserve me, O God, for in you I 1take refuge.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; 1I have no good apart from you.”
As for 1the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.a
The sorrows of those who run aftera another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or 1take their names on my lips.
The Lord is 1my chosen portion and my 2cup; you hold my 3lot.
1The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
I bless the Lord who 1gives me counsel; in 2the night also my 3heart instructs me.a
1I have 2set the Lord always before me; because he is at my 3right hand, I shall not be 4shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my 1whole beinga rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
For you will not abandon my soul to 1Sheol, 2or let your 3holy one see 4corruption.a
You make known to me 1the path of life; in your presence there is 2fullness of joy; at your right hand are 3pleasures forevermore.
