Psalm 3 ESV

The security of God's protection.
A Psalm of David, 1when he fled from Absalom his son.
1 O Lord, 1how many are my foes! Many are 2rising against me;
2 many are saying of my soul, 1“There is no salvation for him in God.” Selaha
3 But you, O Lord, are 1a shield 2about me, my glory, and 3the lifter of my head.
4 I 1cried aloud to the Lord, and he 2answered me from his 3holy hill. Selah
5 I 1lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
6 I 1will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have 2set themselves against me all around.
7 1Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you 2strike all my enemies on the cheek; you 3break the teeth of the wicked.
8 1Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Selah
