Psalms 5

Psalm 5 ESV

1David prayeth, and professeth to be constant in prayer. 4God favoureth not the wicked. 7David professing his faith prayeth unto God to guide him because of the malice of his enemies; 10to destroy them; 11and to preserve the godly.
To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
1 Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my 1groaning.
2 Give attention to the sound of my cry, my 1King and my God, for 2to you do I pray.
3 O Lord, in 1the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for youa and 2watch.
4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.
5 The 1boastful shall not 2stand before your eyes; you 3hate all evildoers.
6 You destroy those who speak 1lies; the Lord abhors 2the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will 1bow down 2toward your 3holy temple in the fear of you.
8 1Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; 2make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is 1destruction; 2their throat is 3an open grave; they 4flatter with their tongue.
10 1Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them 2fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who 1take refuge in you 2rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may 3exult in you.
12 For you 1bless the righteous, O Lord; you 2cover him with favor as with 3a shield.
