Psalms 129

Psalm 129 ESV

1God's goodness in saving Israel out of their great afflictions. 5A prayer against the enemies of the church.
A Song of 1Ascents.
1 “Greatlya have they 1afflicted me 2from my youth”— 3let Israel now say—
2 “Greatly have they 1afflicted me 2from my youth, 3yet they have not prevailed against me.
3 1The plowers plowed 2upon my back; they made long their furrows.”
4 The Lord is righteous; he has cut 1the cords of the wicked.
5 May all who hate Zion be 1put to shame and turned backward!
6 Let them be like 1the grass on the housetops, which 2withers before it grows up,
7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand nor the binder of sheaves his arms,
8 nor do those who pass by say, 1“The blessing of the Lord be upon you! We 2bless you in the name of the Lord!”
